Dr. Marjolijn Ketelaar

Marjolijn Ketelaar, PhD is an Associate Professor at the Center of Excellence for Rehabilitation Medicine Utrecht, the research institute of the UMC Utrecht Brain Center, and De Hoogstraat Rehabilitation.

Marjolijn has a background as Human Movement Scientist, combined with Psychology in Rehabilitation, and is the leader of the research program on Family Empowerment in Pediatric Rehabilitation, with a focus on Brain Based Developmental Disabilities (BBDD). Her research focuses on family-centred care, and the role of the family in the development of children, with a focus on Brain Based Developmental Disabilities (e.g., Cerebral Palsy) and neuromuscular diseases (e.g., SMA).

Marjolijn is the national coordinator of the Dutch research program PERRIN, studying the development of activities and participation of children, adolescents, and young adults with Cerebral Palsy (CP).

Marjolijn is a partner of NetChild, a University Network for Childhood Disability Research in the Netherlands.

Collaboration with families is central in all her research, to optimize relevance and usefulness of research, and to improve clinical practice.

Marjolijn is the co-founder, and member of the board of CP-Net in the Netherlands, a network of parents and persons with CP, clinicians and researchers, aiming to improve the care for persons with Cerebral Palsy.
