Chi-Wen Chien

Chi-Wen (also known as Will) is an Associate Professor in Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He completed his undergraduate training in occupational therapy at National Taiwan University, a Master's degree at James Cook University, a PhD at Monash University in 2010, and a three-year postdoctoral research fellowship at The University of Queensland. Across his academic and clinical career, he has worked extensively with children with various disabilities and their families.

His research focuses on parent coaching, particularly the use of Occupational Performance Coaching, and on children's participation in home and community activities. He has developed several hand-skill assessment tools for children and translated and validated the PEM-CY and YC-PEM in Hong Kong. He also created two online resources: the Children's Hand Skills Assessment Hub and the Hub of Occupational Therapy theory, which support research and teaching on children's fine motor assessments and occupational therapy models.
