Biography

Sara is an educator, facilitator, and parent of four, including two fantastic teens who require constant care specific to their rare diagnosis. Influenced by her family's journey in the health system, she's involved with teaching & supporting the content creation of the Family Engagement in Research Course. She also consults and supports family engagement in health practice with organizations such Ontario's Children's Treatment Centres, ministry-funded facilities that provide rehabilitation services to children and youth with disabilities and specific developmental needs.  Sara is a co-family engagement facilitator with RareKids-CAN, Canada's newest paediatric rare disease clinical trials and treatment network, sharing the role with Alicia Hilderley. Through a partnership with KidsBrain Health Network, Sara has completed training with the Centre for Implementation as a Level One Implementation Support Specialist. In addition to several volunteer advisor roles, Sara is a writer and presenter on the topic of faith, disability & belonging.
